Now here’s a game I’m following closely and looking forward to be able to play! This game is gonna be pure awesomeness as far as awesomeness ever gets! So if you’ve missed it or have never heard of BRINK and it’s developers, read on.
Set in a alternative future where the Earth’s oceans have reportedly risen at a rapid rate, the planet’s habitants have been forced to move and take refuge on the Ark, a man-made floating city made up of hundreds of separate islands. Now at the brink of an all-out civil-war, it’s up to you, the gamer, to decide the future of the Ark and the entire human race.
BRINK will utilize the same squad- and objective-based gamestyle we’ve come to expect from Splash Damage, but without vehicular play like ET:QW had. A new and cool feature is the introduction of the SMART button, which makes “the game dynamically evaluate where you’re trying to get to, and makes it happen. No need to perfectly time a jump or vault, the game knows what you want to do.”
A very welcome feature of BRINK is the seamless integration of singleplayer, multiplayer and co-op. Whatever you choose to do, you will gain experience points to upgrade your character’s skill, abilities and even the look and feel of your character. Online or offline, your progress still applies.
Developed by one of the best developers on the planet, the multi-award-winning Splash Damage, known for legendary titles Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars, their new game BRINK will follow it’s predecessors gameplay and style. BRINK is using a highly modified version of the engine used for ET:QW, and moving away from the Megatextures used in ET:QW in favour of Virtual Texturing.
