I think it’s time to talk a little about my gaming clan, Connect Gaming.
After we decided to go ahead with playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 actively within the clan, there’s been a sudden boom in interest regarding us. People are sending in application after application to join us. We’ve seen three new members join within the last week, and two more are being concidered.
I really don’t understand what’s so attractive about us, though. Don’t get me wrong, we’re not a boring clan, nor are we full of ourselves or 1337. We’re just close mates hanging around, talking shit and being completely R3t@rded. All of our “old” members have been handpicked for the person they are, not skill or previous achievements. That doesn’t matter to us at all. We’re looking for the adult gamer that loves to just hang around with mates and play games.
Still to my surprise, more and more people are wanting to join us. Does this mean there’s more and more gamers getting what I consider “the big picture”? That gaming and Clan Life at this day and age is so much more than just a show of elitism and skill in the games we play? I hope so! The new lads that have recently joined us seems to think like this. Great lads, loves a good piss-taking chat outside the game and actually can withstand my crap and randomness for longer periods of time. And that is something that needs applauding… being able to have a lenghty conversation with me….
Connect Gaming have now also joined ESL – Electronic Sports League, and we’ve signed a MW2 and L4D2 team to their ladders. This is a step towards giving our members what they want, and the option to chose their ammount of activity. Some of the members don’t give a flying fuck about competing, some are very interested in competing. That’s up to them. ESL is an option for those who want it. We don’t require our members to do anything. We don’t force training sessions, nor do we have any set play times we all have to attend. There’s no point in it. Those who want this, have joined the Connect Gaming ESL teams they want to play in and are sorting this out between themselves.
We believe in freedom in a clan. A clan like Connect Gaming is like a family.
That’s why the Connect Gaming members stay Connect Gaming members.
